“Tasting the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in Our Lives!” But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.–Galatians 5:22-23 The Catechism teaches us that the Fruit of the Holy Spirit “are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory.” (CCC1832) We have the gift of tasting and seeing the goodness of the Lord at work in our lives both as the strength for our journey and as a foretaste of heaven. Sometimes the ministry we love so much can be the very thing that seems to rob us of our joy. Ministry is not easy and at times the love of God can seem far away and peace impossible to find. Yet God desires that we taste the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. What?
Why?Every one who is engaged in ministry with youth needs the opportunity to be renewed and reinvigorated to follow Christ and minister in the way that He has called you with much love and joy. Since 2003, this retreat has provided that opportunity for nearly 1,000 full-time, part-time and volunteer youth ministers. When?We regret to inform you that the Youth Minister’s Retreat scheduled for the weekend of January 20-22, 2012 has been cancelled.It is never an easy decision to cancel an event. However, our numbers are considerably lower than past years. One reason is that many youth ministers stated the retreat was in conflict with the March for Life. After prayerfully looking at all the issues, we believe a retreat in the fall will be more accessible to a greater number of youth ministers. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. The retreat will be rescheduled for early fall in 2012. Details regarding the new date will be posted on our website early next year. We are grateful for your hard work and dedication to building the young Church and look forward to the opportunity to serve you in the future. Our retreats are geared to help you journey with Jesus through your ministry with all its demands and challenges. You will be given time to reconnect with Christ through Reconciliation, receive an outpouring of His Holy Spirit, adore Him in the Eucharist, and praise Him by participating in our campus Festival of Praise. In addition, nationally recognized youth ministry professionals will provide practical workshops on prayer, spiritual battle, keeping your life in balance, and living in the power of the Holy Spirit.
